The lid does not penetrate into the container deep enough and air pressure pushes it back out. Won't satisfy my intended purpose.I bought this mid March for our new home. We moved May 1. I loved it and it was perfect! However, less than 2 weeks later (this morning 5/10) it broken while opening it to make the morning coffee. It has been used as designed and has not be knocked with any other object and has not been placed in the dishwasher. Since I purchased ahead- it is too late to exchange. Not sure if it was a defect but it’s no longer useable. So far my sugar and flour canisters are fine… but they don’t get opened/closed daily like the coffee canister.Had to return, does not seal.I got this because I am currently just storing my flour in the bags I buy them in. And that looks kinda tacky. This is nice ceramic cannister that sits level on the counter and is sturdy. It's thick too. It is pretty and works well with the decor in my kitchen. It adds some warm charm too the area.Now the rubber gasket that comes attached to it is the reason why the lid seems to pop up as other reviewers mentioned. The rubber gasket was not glued properly. The gasket on mine fell apart. But it was easily fixed or should I say replaced with a rubber gasket I got on Amazon. I also reviewed that gasket if you like to see the one I used and it did not require gluing. SO now it's air tight and no worries with my flour going bad or getting those bugs in it ! (note: in my picture that is me lifting the cannister by the lid and the cannister is full of flour so yes its heavy)Other than the gasket issue I am pleased with this. I think it looks beautiful ! I am very happy I got this. I hope this was helpful !The sugar canister is so cute and just the right size to keep cinnamon sugar mix handy next to the toaster. I love the color and style. The aqua stripe matches the other decor in my kitchen.The only problem is that the lid is not secure and air tight. The plastic gasket came right off the first time I opened the canister. I was able to reattach it but it is a flaw in the product.I got this to go with my kitchen farmhouse theme. I keep my coffee in it and it keeps it fresh. Definitely worth the moneyI love this coffee container! It matches the new decor of my kitchen to a "T"!
